Android Auto 8.0 update now rolling out with expected ‘Coolwalk’ redesign – Times of India

Google has been working on a new version of Android Auto for some time now. The update is expected to bring a major redesign in the layout of the user interface and internally codenamed “Cookwalk”. Android Auto has received a new update that bumps the version up to 8.0. However, it doesn’t bring the major redesign we were hoping for, as 9to5Google reports.

coolwalk Along with better adapting to the various form factors of the car’s infotainment screen, the redesign is expected to bring a three-part interface to Android Auto. The redesign will allow users to interact with different elements without hiding the ongoing navigation which is not the case right now.
Earlier it was expected that the Coolwalk redesign would be rolled out along with the Android Auto 8 update. But it seems to be happening here. Also, Google hasn’t disclosed the exact changes and updates the update brings to the table.
However, we expect it to, at least, include a solution to the recent connectivity issue that users were facing with Android Auto 7.8 on their smartphones.
9to5Google has also reported that it is possible that Google may enable the new ‘Coolwalk’ redesign from the server-side after a couple of weeks.
For those unaware, several users recently started reporting connectivity issues with Android Auto after updating to version 7.8. After update they were getting “phone not compatible” error.
