Filmmaker Shaji Kailas’ mother Janakiamma passes away – Times of India

Popular Malayalam filmmaker Shaji Kailas’ mother Janikiyamma passed away. She was 89 years old. The FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) directors union took to their social media handles to pay tribute.

The organization said in its social media note, “Director Shaji Kailas’ mother Janakiamma (89) passed away… FEFKA Directors Union condoles the passing away of the mother.”


Shaji Kailas shares an adorable bond with his mother. On Mother’s Day this year, Shaji Kailas posted an adorable picture with her mother Janakiamma, and wrote, “Wonderful mother” God made a wonderful mother, a mother who never gets old; He gave her a sunny smile , and she molded her heart with pure gold; in her eyes she placed bright shining stars, blond roses in her cheeks you see; God made a wonderful mother, and she gave me that lovely mother..

Earlier he had posted a cute note for his mother, which read, “There is no one in this world or beyond who can replace ‘Mother’. Her love is unconditional and she will keep you in your entire life. Never leaves. Happy Mother’s Day ️.”

A popular filmmaker, Shaji Kailas stepped into the theaters as an assistant director. He made his debut as an independent filmmaker with the 1989 film The News, starring Suresh Gopi in the lead role. Shaji Kailas made headlines in 1992 when he worked with Suresh Gopi once again for ‘Thalastanam’, which was written by Renji Panicker. Shaji Kailas gave Suresh Gopi some of the best films of his career including ‘Commissioner’. The filmmaker collaborated with Mammootty for the films ‘The King’ and later with Mohanlal for the films ‘Aaram Thamburan’ and ‘Narasimham’.

On the work front, Shaji Kailas was recently filming for ‘Kapa’, which stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role.
