Ranchi: Jharkhand Raj Bhavan has got the opinion of the Election Commission (ECI) in the matter of office of profit of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. A letter in this regard was received by the Jharkhand Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
The hearing in the Hemant Soren mine lease case, in which the BJP has accused him of extending a mining lease to himself and sought his disqualification as an MLA, concluded at the ECI on Monday.
The Election Commission on Tuesday sent its opinion to the Governor of Jharkhand, which was received by the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
Sources confirmed that the EC’s letter was received by Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais’ office, but the details of the EC’s opinion could not be revealed as it was sent in a sealed cover.
On August 12, Soren’s legal team completed its arguments before the Election Commission, following which the petitioner BJP in the matter replied. On August 18, both sides submitted their written arguments to the Election Commission.
On Thursday, BJP MP (MP) from Godda in Jharkhand Nishikant Dubey tweeted that the letter of the Election Commission has reached the Raj Bhavan.
According to TV reports, the Election Commission has recommended the disqualification of Soren from the post of Jharkhand CM.
