Modi government’s big initiative on Universal Healthcare, know details

New Delhi: In a major initiative by the Narendra Modi government, it has decided to allow co-branding on Ayushman Bharat health cards with state health schemes. After the decision, now the Ayushman Bharat health card can be used for both central and state health schemes. The cards of Ayushman Bharat, which had the logo of the Center till now, will now also have the logo of the states.

So far 31 out of 33 states have agreed to this Ayushman Bharat health schemeHowever, Delhi, Odisha and West Bengal have opted to stay out of it. Talks are on with Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

What is Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana?

Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2018, with the aim of providing a universal health care to every citizen. With Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the government provides cashless healthcare up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.

Benefits under AB-PMJAY are portable across the country. There is no limit on family size, or age, or gender. Deserving families are able to access quality health services without facing financial difficulties.

The Government of India has also decided to provide free health insurance under Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PM-JAY) to all children who have lost their parents to COVID-19.

All children will be enrolled as beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PM-JAY) with a health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, patients can get free treatment in empaneled private and government hospitals.
