MS Dhoni-backed drone firm Garuda Aerospace will provide expertise to the Indian Army

Drone maker Garuda Aerospace is set to provide expertise to the Indian Army to conduct specialized missions to detect, deter and disrupt international organized criminal networks. Former Indian cricket captain and current Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who holds the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Indian Territorial Army, is an ambassador-cum-investor in a low-cost drone solutions provider.

Indian Army has expressed keen interest to use Garuda Aerospace Expertise and technical knowledge in drone technology to use drones more effectively in modern warfare. The company recently initiated its US$30 million Series A round of funding at a valuation of US$250 million.

“Garuda Aerospace has created significant traction by deploying drones for unique applications to support the Indian Army and will now use multiple-purpose drones for strategic and tactical operations,” said Agneswar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO.

Jaiprakash said that this collaboration will also help in meeting the defense requirements and will enable large companies like us to leverage our expertise. Further, the founder said that he is ‘extremely proud’ to serve the nation and is committed to delivering ‘Make in India’ drones to support the armed forces working in the frontline.

He adds, “Our drones are designed with artificial intelligence and machines that learn rapidly.”

Drone start-ups have been invited to send their technical team to make modifications and help the Army maintain timelines and operational pace while performing their duties towards the nation.

Garuda will analyze aerospace practices and propose a solution using its ‘Make in India’ drones to reduce the vulnerability of Indian troops and the manual labor involved by providing reconnaissance, logistics support.
