The government has implemented reservation in the appointment of law officers in Punjab. CM Bhagwant Mann said that 58 posts of Law Officers have been reserved for the SC brotherhood in the Advocate General’s office. On which the recruitment process has been started. Mann said that Punjab is the first state which has given reservation to lawyers.

CM Bhagwant Mann said that when I took oath as CM, I asked the officers that there is a reservation for law officers in the office of Advocate General. He said no. I asked if we could do this. Officials said that the government can take this decision.

These posts will be filled in the coming days. This facility is not available for lawyers in any state, institution or panel anywhere in the country.

The government had reached HC earlier
Contrary to CM Bhagwant Mann’s claim regarding reservation, the Punjab government had earlier reached the High Court. The National SC Commission had asked the Punjab government for reservation. Against this, the government had filed a petition in the High Court. However, it was suddenly withdrawn later.
