The government is all set to rename Rajpath and Central Vista Lawn as Kartavya Path. India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Government is preparing to change its name Rajpath and Central Vista Lawn as duty path. Sources said the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has called a special meeting on September 7 (Wednesday) to adopt the new name.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the revamped Rajpath and Center View Lawn on Thursday evening. TOI on Sunday was the first to report on the government’s plan to rename the stretch on the lines of “Amrit Kaal”, with a major emphasis on citizens’ duty.
The entire road and area from Netaji’s statue to Rashtrapati Bhavan will be known as Kartavya Path. Sources said that this is also a message to the ruling class that the era of rulers and subjects is over.
Earlier, the name of the road on which PM’s residence is located was also changed from Race Course Road to Lok Kalyan Marg.
Modi, in his last August 15 speech, had stressed on the abolition of symbols related to the colonial mindset. By 2047, he also emphasized the importance of duties. Sources said that both these factors can be seen behind the nomenclature of ‘Kartavya Path’.
Central According to the central government’s dedicated website on Central Vista, Vista Avenue includes the Rajpath and India Gate lawns. Sources also said that there was “no question” of renaming Rajpath, which was known as King’s Way before independence.
Sources said there is no official name like ‘Central Vista Avenue’ in the government records, but it was conceptualized as a project as part of the Central Vista redevelopment plan. The government mentioned the area as CVA in the Supreme Court’s records in 2020 and the Delhi Urban Arts Commission in its records in 2021.
