American tennis sensation Coco Gauff has backed Amanda Anisimova to reach the final of the 2022 Wimbledon. On Saturday, July 2, 18-year-old Gauff lost 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 1. -6 from Anisimova on center court and out of women’s singles in the ongoing grass-court tournament.

The 20-year-old Anisimova was trailing 0-3 in the first set, after which she made a spectacular comeback. The second and third sets of the match were completely one-sided in Anisimova’s favour.

“I think she has a good shot of going into the final. If she plays like she did the last two sets against me, I think it’s some top tennis out there,” Gough said.

Anisimova, meanwhile, was happy after a memorable outing on her debut at center court.

Anisimova said, “Today’s match was very difficult, but it was very special to play on center court for the first time in my life. I was trying to absorb every moment I had. It was very special.”

“It’s so exciting how many Americans are doing well and have gone on here so far. I think we have a ton of strong players. Even today playing against Coco, I think it’s on center for our country.” Extremely exciting and cool to play. American,” he added.

In the championship, 20th seed Anisimova will next face France’s Harmony Tan in a round of 16 match on Monday, 4 July.

As far as Gauff is concerned, he is set to play his Round of 16 mixed doubles match with Jack Sock against Zhang Shuai and Nicolas Mahut.
